How do I hook up oxygen to the anesthesia machine?
There are two ways to deliver oxygen to the anesthesia machine:
Oxygen tanks located on or near the machine
Oxygen line supplied from an outside source
(e.g., external tank or plumbed in oxygen source).
Some hospitals may choose to employ smaller tanks (i.e. “E” tanks)
that can accompany the anesthesia machine from room to room.
On the LEI M2000 Floor Model machine, this requires an e-tank
manifold including a pressure regulator that safely and
conveniently delivers oxygen to the portable machine.
Other hospitals use large “H, S or J” size tanks with oxygen lines
that run to the anesthesia machine. Wall or ceiling lines deliver
oxygen through an outlet near the anesthesia machine. The
oxygen hose from the anesthesia machine will adapt to the outlet
or ceiling drop via an oxygen quick disconnect adapter (i.e.
Chemetron or Ohmeda adapters) . These devices “lock” together
to prevent oxygen leakage, and can be quickly disconnected.
